About Sea Breeze Community

Welcome to the Sea Breeze Community website.  I hope in the next little while you will learn more about SBC and the people who make it a great place to be.

SBC has a great group of guys who work very hard to keep the grounds well maintained.  This is a real challenge with the limited supplies and the ageing infrastructure, but they do a great job.

Terry Plummer and Sandy Plummer

Mr. Plumber

The foreman of the maintenance department is Terry Plummer.  He has been with FEA maintenance for 10 years.  He has been a very capable leader in this area.  His expertise in so many different areas gives him the insight needed to run a maintenance department that works on everything from air conditioners to lawn mowers and plumbing to electrical with everything in between.  His hard work and excellent leadership make him an invaluable part of the FEA family.  His careful attention to detail has been a great example in the maintenance department.

A word from Terry:  The Lord worked in miraculous ways for my family and me to come to Hobe Sound.  I arrived in September 1996, with the intention of working in the Maintenance Department.  I rebuilt golf carts and did miscellaneous work all over campus until April 1997.  I then started doing air conditioning work, along with the many other duties.  In 1998 I began to fill in as Maintenance Supervisor.  It has been a very interesting time, and I hope by doing this small part, that I am assisting this great missionary organization in spreading God’s Word.

Matt Bowen Family

Matt Bowen & FamilyMatt Bowen is another of our full-time maintenance men.  Matt and Tracy have five children: Austin, Maria, Caleb, Gabriel and Isaiah.  The three oldest children are students in Hobe Sound Christian Academy and the youngest two are still in the home.  Matt and Tracy have quickly adapted to life here in Hobe Sound.  They have become an integral part of the community.  Their willingness to pitch in and help in so many different areas have made them such a blessing here.

A word from Matt:  I was raised in a pastor’s home thus the opportunity to learn how to do maintenance was not hard to get.  My father, Rev. William Bowen, is gifted with many talents and he taught me everything he knew, so at an early age I learned to love every aspect of residential and commercial maintenance.  After graduating from high school I worked for several years doing residential and commercial maintenance.  A few years ago I started my own maintenance business and I thought that would be what I would do until I retired, but God had other plans.  I was very active in my local church serving as youth leader, song leader and on the board.  When God started talking to me in the spring of 2005 about coming to FEA, I was shocked to say the least, but as my wife and I continued in prayer we knew that this was what God wanted for our family.  We contacted FEA without even knowing for sure if they had an opening and to our surprise they needed a maintenance man.  God is so faithful!  We moved here in September of 2005, and we are so happy to be in the center of God's will.  God is helping every day and my aim is to use my talents for the glory of God

Ben Bell

Ben BellBen Bell is the senior member of the maintenance staff both in time of service and experience.  Ben first came down to Hobe Sound in 1984 with some family.  He worked for some people in the area and on Jupiter Island for a while.  He began working as a carpenter in the maintenance department in 1985 and has been here ever since.  Each summer he takes a couple of months off and visits family in the North.  We miss him when he is gone and look forward to when he returns in the fall to begin his work again.  He does good quality work and his years of experience make him an invaluable part of the maintenance team.  Everyone who has gotten to know Ben over the years has come to appreciate and love him.  He has been a high quality, steady, dependable worker for the Lord for many years and we hope he will continue working in Sea Breeze Community for many more years to come.

Custodial Staff

We here at Sea Breeze Community also have a great custodial staff that work so hard at keeping all of the buildings clean and neat.

We have Paul Butler who is the one who gets the buildings ready to rent.  Any time someone gets ready to move in a place, he goes in beforehand to make sure it is clean and ready for the next occupant.  There is never a job that he is sent on, but what he exceeds expectations.  He works very hard also on the grounds making sure the brush gets picked up and hauled away to the brush pile.  Also in the office he assists in getting the sweeper run and all of the trash out.  Many times he has to work when everyone else has gone home.  You can hear him singing a song or humming to himself.  What a joy it is to have him working for FEA.

Lorene Butler also works very hard in keeping Friendship Hall clean and neat.  She has the job of making sure all the rooms are ready for guests when they arrive.  This means that sometimes she gets called out at night to go open a room for someone or get a room ready for some weary traveler who has come in for the night.  She does a great job of keeping the rooms in top notch order for the guests.  She also works at keeping the office space clean and neat.  What a good job she does!  We are blessed to have her with FEA.
